Welcome back!

When working with new parents or those that have never hired a nanny before, I realize that many parents don’t understand what makes a nanny “tick”.

Let’s continue our dive into the mindset of a nanny with Episode #2 in our series, “Top Seven Issues Nannies Care About Most”.

Last week, we discussed the importance of fair pay to nannies. Today, let’s dive into the topic of job security.

Just like any other employee in any industry, job security and a stable workplace environment are extremely important to nannies. What can you do to ensure that your nanny feels stable working with your family? Watch to learn more!

Nannies – I also include some great tips in this video for how you can strengthen your job security.

I hope you find this video useful and don’t forget to check back next week for Episode #3 where we will discuss recognition and respect.

Hi! Welcome back to my video series “How To Land Your Dream Nanny Job!”

In Part #1, we discussed my tips and tricks when applying for jobs. You can find that video by clicking here.

In Part #2, I went over nailing the job interview. Check that out by clicking here.

In this final episode, let’s discuss what to do after the interview. I cover following up with the parents, sending along references, communication tips, what to do after receiving an offer, and negotiation tips.

Pro Tip: Nannies, don’t be nervous to negotiate the offer. Many parents have never hired a nanny before and don’t know what the industry standards are. Help educate the parents about what nannies expect.

Hi everyone! Welcome back to my video series “How To Land Your Dream Nanny Job!”

In today’s video, I’m going to cover nailing the job interview. Specifically, how to prepare for the phone and in-person interview.

Pro Tip: Showing up 5-10 minutes early to the in-person interview and letting the parents know that you are early is a GREAT way to show that you are organized and punctual.

As the economy is changing, it’s becoming less of a “nanny market” and more of a “parents market”. In the last couple of months, I have started seeing a big uptick in multiple nannies applying for the same position and nannies that are available to begin working as soon as possible.

When there are fewer available positions to apply for, it’s important to ensure that you stand out from the crowd when searching for a new family to work with.

I’m excited to release the first video in my new series, “How To Land Your Dream Nanny Job!”. In this series, I’m going to cover everything you need to know to apply for a position, nail the job interview, and what steps to take after the interview to land the perfect position.

Check out Episode #1 where I cover applying for positions and how to ensure that your application stands out. I hope you find it useful!

Hi everybody! Laura from Nanny Parent Connection back with this week’s video.

Have you ever had a “Crafternoon” with your kids or nanny kids?

My family lives in Seattle, WA where it can be a bit dark and gloomy during the winter months. As spring begins, I find myself running out of ideas for how to keep my kids entertained when indoors.

Check out these three affordable, spring-themed arts and crafts projects which are guaranteed to bright up your child’s day (and yours!).

Pro Tip: The pine cone feeder project definitely has captivated my kids over the past few days. They love to watch the birds and squirrels eat all of the seeds/peanut butter and has led to some great conversations about local wildlife ☺️

Hi everyone! Laura back with my next video.

Considering hiring a live in nanny? Or perhaps you are a nanny who is thinking of offering live in childcare?

The most common question I receive from parents about live in nanny care is:

“If I have a live in nanny, that means I can pay them a lower hourly rate, right?”

What do you think? Is this true or false?

Check out my latest video where I breakdown the pros and cons of live in nanny care – from both the parents and nanny’s perspective.

Is a live in position right for you? Are you considering a live in nanny to care for your children? Make sure to watch this video BEFORE making your decision.

In this video, I’m going to discuss the pros and cons from both the family and nanny’s perspective.

Pro Tip: In my opinion, the most important issue to keep in mind when considering live in nanny care is everyone’s privacy.

Working with a nanny means that your normal private space (i.e. your home) is being shared with someone from outside your own family. Your nanny might have access to information about your family that others don’t and that the family might not want shared.

Parents – what policies should you put into place to honor your family’s privacy? Nannies – what can you do to ensure the family you work with is comfortable sharing their private space with you?

Check out my latest video where I cover my top privacy tips that both nannies and families should keep in mind when working together!

In this video, I’m going to discuss:

– Photo Policy

– Social Media Policy

– General Privacy

– Non-Disclosure Agreement

Hi everyone! Laura here back with my next video.

Our team receives dozens of calls and emails each week from nannies. Many of these are requests for advice on how to discuss compensation related issues with their nanny family. Some of the most popular questions we receive are:

– How do I ask for a raise or an annual review?

– How do I talk to the parents about putting a nanny contract into effect?

– Should I be reimbursed for mileage when using my own car to transport my nanny kids?

– What is the best way to discuss job duty creep?

When I worked as a nanny, I had many of these same questions. Check out my latest video where I discuss the eight most common advice requests from nannies and my thoughts for how to advocate for yourself!
